For me, interactive media is primarily about human interaction and designing user experiences that are engaging, yet highly functional and efficient at communicating. While I am adept at and still enjoy the technical and aesthetic sides of producing websites, I find it most challenging just trying to understand how people think. I can then design information architecture and rewarding experiences for visitors with this in mind.

COFA ANNUAL 07

This is the first year the COFA ANNUAL exhibition is being made available as a dedicated website for visitors to explore. I steered the team through the information architecture and layout concept design stage, agreeing on new functionality such as tagging and the ability to link to individual students. I was then responsible for coding the website, including front-end HTML/CSS, back-end PHP, various search algorithms and database integration.

Green Pages Australia

This was a commercial project for a client, where the challenge was to build a website that would be identically accessible to visitors on any platform, yet remaining faithful to the desired design. Standards-based techniques and impeccable attention to detail made this possible. I was responsible for implementing the coding after receiving specifications from the designers.

AMUNC 05

This was a volunteer project for a conference, where the challenge was to present a vast amount of information in an efficient and predictable, yet friendly and attractive manner. I employed context-sensitive navigation to help achieve this. I both designed the architecture and graphics for the website as well as developed the technical side.

NEWS.com.au

I worked on the front-end HTML and CSS coding for this project to renew the web presense for News Interactive. This involved working in a large team including liasing back-end developers, designers and project managers.

‘The Blood of Kings’ Documentary

What I love about documentary filmmaking is the opportunity that you have to go somewhere, or inside something, new and then to tell a story about what you see, to be able to share what you have just discovered with a new audience. This one chronicles the staging of a student theatre production from beginning to end, giving an inside look at all the drama, uncertainty and excitement that threatens to stop ‘The Blood of Kings’ from coming into being.

Photography

In photography, like in digital video, I enjoy the opportunity to capture the world as I see while sharing and observing everyone’s varying perspectives. I am also fascinated with colour and photograph a great deal of landscapes and architecture, including in infrared.
